Cookies Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on oakivycoffeehouse.com. It follows the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and ICO guidance on storage and access technologies (finalised April 2026). 1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar tools include local storage and pixels. PECR covers any technology that stores or accesses information on your device.
2. Our approach
We keep this site simple. We do not run advertising cookies, social plugins that track you across the web, or Google Analytics.
Under PECR we must get prior consent before using non-exempt tools. Consent must be freely given, specific and informed. Accept and reject are offered with equal prominence. Optional toggles start off. We do not use pre-ticked boxes or a cookie wall that blocks the site unless you accept.
The banner appears on your first visit. Your choice is stored for up to 6 months. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings.

4. Categories you can choose
Necessary
Required to remember this policy choice and keep the site working. These fall under the PECR exception for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. They cannot be switched off from the banner.
Functional
Google Fonts. If you refuse, the site still works with your device’s built-in fonts. Because fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, Google may see your IP address. That is why we ask first.
Embedded content
Google Maps on the Visit page. If you refuse, you will see a placeholder and can still use “Get Directions”, which opens Google Maps in a new tab only when you click it.
5. First-party analytics exception
PECR now includes a narrow exception for some first-party statistics cookies, with a free way to object. We do not currently use analytics, so that exception does not apply. If we add privacy-friendly first-party stats later, we will update this page and offer an opt-out.
6. Third parties
Google is an independent controller for data it collects through Fonts and Maps. Read Google’s privacy notice and, if you wish, manage ads personalisation in your Google account. Clicking Instagram, Facebook or a Google Review / Directions link takes you to those sites under their own terms.
7. How to control cookies
- Use Cookie settings on this site.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. The ICO explains how at ico.org.uk.
- Rejecting optional tools will not stop the café website itself from loading.
8. Updates
If we add new non-essential tools we will update this policy and request a fresh choice where PECR requires it.
